Ever seen The Amazing Race? Yeah, neither have I. Apparently it's when you run around doing weird shit in a city, and then you get more clues to do more weird shit until the group who finishes all the weird shit first wins some prizes. I signed up instantly, of course, as I love anything that has to do with weirdness in Asia.
Three coworkers and I started on our first task: making noodles.
Three coworkers and I started on our first task: making noodles.
To complete the task, we had to gulp down the noodles we made. Then we ran off to a park, where our task was to feed fish. Easy enough, especially when you cheat like we did and throw all the fish food in the lake when the judges weren't looking.
Our next task was creating a traditional opera headdress, which would come into play in a later task.
Next up: finding Chinese characters hidden in poems in a park.
Our next clue led us to a well, where we had to scoop up enough water to fill a bucket. Then we took a tuk tuk to an opera house, where our headdresses would come in handy.
Our mission? Slap on some traditional make-up and take fancy pictures.
And that is where I became the creepiest ... opera-y thing... of all times.

Getting creepier...
Wait for it...
Almost...
I WILL EAT YOUR CHILDREN.
And now for the glorious photo shoot.
And now for the glorious photo shoot.
Not even gonna try to be humble, I rocked the shit out of that photo shoot. After basking in the glory of our awesomeness, we wiped off the makeup (but kept on the headdresses) and ate some chicken feet.
Seriously, that's a thing people eat here. All I had to do was nibble on its toes, but that was revolting enough.
After a final task of rice scooping, flag recognizing, and putting together a puzzle of China, our team placed 7th of 11. Not too shabby for my first amazing race.
Along the way, we also had to do a photo scavenger hunt. We received a list of items to photograph along the way, and to make a long story short, because of that, there's now floating around a photo of my exposed butt crack and a photo of me pooping on a bike.
Good times.
